CMMS
Computerised Maintenance Management System
A CMMS is a computerised maintenance management system: software that holds an asset register, maintenance schedules, work order history and parts inventory for the equipment an organisation owns or services.
Definition
CMMS and FSM overlap heavily. The traditional distinction is that a CMMS is built around assets inside a facility, while field service management is built around technicians travelling between customer sites — but a modern field service platform covers both.
Why it matters
If your maintenance is performed by a mobile team at customer locations, a mobile-first field service platform usually fits better than a facility-oriented CMMS, because execution happens on a phone rather than at a desk.

Avchare puts these concepts into a single field service platform — work orders, dispatch, SLA tracking and reporting.
