Asset Registry
Asset register
An asset registry is the authoritative list of the equipment an organisation owns or services, with each item's identity, location, specifications, warranty status and service history.
Definition
A useful registry records serial number, model, install date and the site it belongs to, and links every work order performed on that item back to it — so the record grows on its own as work is done.
Why it matters
Without a registry, maintenance is scheduled against memory and repair history lives in people's heads. With one, every reliability metric — MTBF, downtime, cost per asset — becomes calculable.
