Route Optimization

Route optimization is the ordering of a technician's stops so that total driving time or distance is as low as possible, while still respecting appointment windows and job priorities.

Definition

It takes each technician's job list and sequences it against real road distances rather than straight lines, and can re-plan during the day when an emergency job is inserted.

Why it matters

Travel is time nobody pays for. Cutting it converts directly into more completed jobs per technician per day and lower fuel and vehicle costs, without hiring anyone.
